Best year so far

2013 has been very kind, busy, demanding, but ultimately a great one.

I love this photo taken in Sechelt, simply enjoying the wonderful summer.Jason is an amazing dad and definitely a partner in crime πŸ™‚

Sara loves fooling around with him, I’m the cook and sometimes an art teacher, she calls me the great doer :), but daddy is the fun buddy.

We are enjoying this magic time when she still believes in magical things, but at the same time thinks about stuff all the time. She loves art, her art teacher is really wonderful, she understands Sara’s challenge with perfection and creates lessons that truly focus on the process rather than the product.

The trampoline and swimming fill our days, sometimes too much. Life can be so busy and my focus for next year is being more still with Sara.

Next year will mark six years of living in our house and it starts to show. Last year I painted our bedroom into a white crisp sanctuary and next year the rest of the house will follow. I still dream about new flooring with under foot heating, we are all tired of being cold all winter long πŸ™‚

J will surely continue his cycling and I would love to do the same. Easter bunny might have to bring Sara new, bigger bike, with gears. That means next summer will be all about biking. We will try to organize a camping trip with some of Sara’s class buddies. I’m considering joining the PTA, because I would love to make difference in the experience Sara and others will have at the school.

We already joined couple fundraisers and it was fantastic to se the amazing community this school has, well at least the part that is actively participating in the school life.

Gardening, home improvement, my office work and possibly even passing an Infant ECE certification, we will see how will it all play out next year, well it’s past midnight, so it is this year, the fabulous 2014. the year I turn 39… πŸ˜‰

Where did the year go?

I just even start to think how fast the last year was. I know people say;“just wait when she goes to school…” yes, my baby started Kindergarten in the fall.

Last year was full of skiing with Sara on Grouse

biking, biking and more biking. J raced in the Valley Fondo and the all mighty Grand Fondo Whistler in September. I picked up the road biking as well, but my mileage is not even close to Jason’s, and that’s OK πŸ™‚

We spent three weeks in Czech Republic and Germany in the spring. It was lovely to see my family, or more like parts of it and some great friends on top of that.

My dad passed away and we dealt with J’s dad big health scare, luckily he is well now.

Work, gardening, and more work, some sewing and general crafting on top and I just marvel that our days really are only 24 hours long.

As with every end of the year posts there are some plans cooking for the upcoming year, but that is for another day.

More dresses mommy!
Sewing and sewing frilly dresses, who knew up cycling old t-shirts is so much fun. Sara loves her new clothes and wants to learn to sew, hmmmm. I will need to learn how to teach four year old, sounds like fun.

The end of the year is here and I’m trying to tie up the loose ends. We are hosting a New Years party this year and I’m excited to make some yummy healthy food.
I finished all the sewing projects yesterday and Sara finally has her Ruby Gloom dress, and she loves it. I’m still puzzled where did I put all the fabric for the tutus, I just can’t find them anywhere, is that a sign I should tidy up and reorganize my crafting stash, I think so. I would still love to make her some more skirts, but maybe I just leave it till spring time and make them all with “shorts included” πŸ˜‰
I can’t believe that in three weeks I will have to line up to sign Sara up for kindergarten, holly s… πŸ˜‰
This year is going to be so much fun, the Europe trip is not happening, but maybe it’s better that way. I need to create a little financial cushion just in case I can’t get the morning shift in the fall, we will see. I’m certain everything will fall into place the way it should :)))

It’s Christmas
Two days to go and our house is finally getting ready for the festivities. It has been so busy with my exams and all the crazy daycare stuff plus being sick like a dog doesn’t make accomplishing anything any easier.
I have to pull one or two all nighters to build the dollhouse. I have way too many cool ideas of what to put in, but I definitely lack some power tools to actually make it happen. Building a staircase and putting it in will be no easy feat, since it has to be durable for a crazy four year old to play with it. Lights will be built in this time, no exposed wiring and power source outside the living areas, easily accessible. The thought is there, now for the execution πŸ™‚

The kids

Middle of November is here, last sunny day for a while and my first real cold of the fall season is here strong and furious.
I’m a bit behind my studying, but I really make effort to devote every Tuesday and Thursday morning to studying.
Halloween was short and sweet, we carved our pumpkins, managed to visit the pumpkin patch. Sara was a princess and the dress I made her looked fine.
I would love to make her more skirts, but it might have to wait till the Christmas break.
Jason made a hotel reservation at L’Hermitage for after the company Christmasgbvvbv party. Sara will be at grama’s for the weekend and we will have a little quiet time for ourselves before the holidays.
This year Sara will have so many presents that is not even funny :), so many books and I still have to make the dollhouse, I feel my Β creative juices flowing again. I’m looking forward to Christmas decorating, making it feel cozy and festive again

The family together

Life has been busy as ever. The rainy days are here, it’s cold and we are slowly getting used to the darkness.
November should be a little easier on our numbers at work, I really need that. It has been a heck of a ride with my new staff, oh well I day I will have another Sunny, I hope.
I’m looking forward to two weeks off, what a treat. Maybe we would get some skiing done, just me and J. Sara has made a great progress with her numbers, she loves counting now and her writing and phonics are just great. She is so proud of her workbook sheets.Β
My tax course is going on great, the software seems so familiar now and I have good work habits thanks to Mariola. I did frat on how much so you know, 95%, so I hope to do well on the new TPS and on the finals.
We became comfortably numb to our happiness and it feels good. Our days are filled with familiar routines and very little else. Or so it feels.

Welcome Stella

Or more like Bella. Sara started calling her that pretty much from the start.
This beautiful girl has been living with us for two weeks already, or is it three? I honestly can’t remember.
Last weekend she was left here for 28 hours, because we went to see parentals and when we came she was just happy and frisky as ever. She must have missed us, because since then she developed some funny rituals.Β
Every morning she runs into our bedroom as soon as J goes to the bathroom. He sits there and she rubs herself on him as she would be generating electricity to power the world πŸ˜‰
While he gets dressed she sit on the banister and cleans herself to be ready for the breskfast. They go downstairs together and J serves her canned goodies. She started to chatch up on the food deficit from the shelter for sure. The first few days she ate so little, we were almost celebrating how cheap it’s going to be to feed her, silly us πŸ˜‰
She has food available at all times and she loves her midnight feasts. She might always be undersized cat, but she is not bony anymore.
Sara loves her, even thou she is very cautious after the biting incident. I talk about Bella’s body language and some of her strange ways to express affection (aka love bites) and Sara is taking it all in.
Halloween is upon us and Sara wants to be a princess!!!!!!!!!!!!!! πŸ˜‰
So this weekend I need to make the most pink and princessy skirt/dress I can muster, oh my πŸ˜‰

Nooooo, that’s way too beautiful

Damm you Internet yet again. I should be studying for my exam, instead I dream about doll houses, and skirts. Sara decided to wear skirts from now on, I have a t-shirt that I don’t feel like fixing (those annoying little holes after too much washing machine action) and inspiration coming out my ears πŸ˜‰
I had a little nap and a coffee so downstairs kingdom of creativity here I come.Β
This absolutely amazing, magical, enchanted tree house gave me an idea about stairs or some sort of a bridge connecting the two houses. Oh I so need that scroll saw.
On a different note, we are heading for the new addition to our family land πŸ˜‰ No babies, more like a cat.
Sara needs something living to replace the sibling she will never have. She played with our neighbour’s cat for a half an hour today, she just loves him (Gus). I saw a wonderful cat for an adoption and we just need to make the leap, it’s obvious. There will never be the perfect time and we just have to take the leap of faith πŸ˜‰
