More leaves, keek the green coming. And now for the sun…
since my brain will inevitably bury all the memories under a layer of everyday worries I must preserve them elsewhere

More leaves, keek the green coming. And now for the sun…
We bought Adam’s trail a bike and Sara rode it around the block last night with daddy. She loved it. We will buy a safety flag and they can try it out on the weekend. I have last 21 hours ahead of me in the office and I swear I’m getting myself a bottle of something lovely to celebrate the survival of the last four months. I know I have no choice for next year, I need to keep going to be able to take more classes in the fall. Plus the pay will cover our super holiday in the Europe next summer. But for now it’s the countdown to free weekends and gardening.
Last push to finish the doll house is required. I can’t believe my baby will be four in six weeks. Her actual birthday falls onto Saturday this year, so I need to start planing the party. I already have most of the decorations, I just need to design and make the goodie bags and invitations. And the cake… I don’t want to repeat the cake disaster from last year 😉
Right now Sara is at her swimming class and she is doing so well. She loves the floating feeling and she practices it as much as she can. I have no doubt she will pass this level with flying colours. She is so good at learning when it’s something she likes. We need to practice soccer skills a bit more, because she can’t dribble or side kick and she gets too frustrated at the practice sessions. If I sign her up for sessions during the summer I will make sure either Braiden of Griffin will be there for added fun.

Two more weeks till privacy from our neighbors
Not that I don’t like them, but I love looking into the green splendor more.
Sara got over her fever stint quickly, thanks to the immune system training of 3 years in the daycare 🙂
It has been raining for three days straight, all the deck plants are flooded, but our salad mixes are growing and the peas poked through the soil as well.
We found Sara Adam’s trail a bike, J should pick it up tonight. All we need is some sunshine, hmmm at least no rain so we can take it for a test spin.
Sara will be at school this morning, so the doll house is on the to do list. Bathroom wall with the lovely blind over the window. Then the super modified front entry and attaching (still don’t know how) the fireplace to the wall.
Well, no more musing and on with the action 😉
It seems the rain will never end and to add to the general misery a fever came to visit. I’ve been exhausted yet again and Sara must have caught something at the daycare as well. So now I’m just scrambling to have somebody to take care of Sara while I have to go to work.
Yesterday I started to built a patio table for the doll house, what fun. I might even get to do the Mod fire fireplace for the radical dream roof terrace. Did I mention I saw string lights for a doll house? Stop me, oh wait, too late I already crossed the obsession line long time ago.
Beautiful laminated fabric had arrived from Jody and her Fabric Shoppe. So I can start making the little surprises for the thank you bags for Sara’s party. Fun with deadline, the best kind of motivation to get creating.
Well, I started a search for used trail a bike for Sara, because it’s time to say goodbye to the baby seat. I borrowed a book about bike rides around Vancouver and it has so man awesome rides in it. We decided to do most of them, plus some in the US, and we will post maps and pictures from our adventures. This is a preparation for a future summer adventure of biking the Kattle Valley Railway trail.
I have last three days in the office ahead of me and then we can return to normal family life of weekends together.

Apple/pear brownie .3
This variation includes the basics plus
One container of apple sauce
½ c of water
½ c of coconut
Some raisins
The flours are:
1c whole spelt flour
1/2c rice flour
1/2c coconut flour
Let’s see how is this one going to turn out, I find the previous batch was way too dry, so I tried to match the consistency of the original recipe, even thou she bakes them as a al brownie, meaning thin layer that looses more liquid during baking, compared to my version that is more like a cake.
Lovely Sunday is upon us, J is riding and me and Sara will do some planting around the house and then we will head to the garden to do some work and test the awesome sand box 😉

Teasing myself with inspiration from m blogs. Not good. I finally feel a bit better and even have energy to cook dinner and tidy up after, instead just passing out at 8:30. Garden is still abandoned even thou I already bout Sara a small umbrella to keep her in shade. No cover made just yet 😦
On the weekend we planted Oregon Sugar peas in the planter, stir fry blend greens on the deck, to,tomatoes from Amsterdam Green house, and finally some mesclun greens together with nasturtiums for a colorful salad. Now we just need some sun. Sara’s window planter is not ready either, maybe tomorrow.
A lovely parent gave me a little tin of chocolates for Easter, I am a hoarder, I just can’t part with cute boxes, they might come handy one day you know ;)))) So I have to make a little project to fill that box. Sara is into small strange things, preferably in a box, so here go a little traveling mice, maybe I can call him Alexander after our favourite book.

Strange day…
Where do I start about this very odd day.
The whole day I had a view of a gathering to celebrate and question life of a 26 who committed suicide… His friends brought in his red sport car that he was working on. People were gathering and looking at this silent object, that couldn’t bring anybody closer to finding the answer to all the unanswered questions. I have never met or known this boy, but this silent memento parked on the sidewalk for the day was just too much for me today. The only thought left in my head was; “ I never want to have to bury my child” if she never considers killing herself and makes choices that will keep her and others around her safe then we did a good job as parents and I should just be happy. I’m not saying that his parents didn’t raised him right, not at all. I know that they did the best they could.
It was a wonderful, sunny hot spring day, flowers everywhere. A good day to celebrate ones life.
At the end of the service everybody went outside and attached a note to a white ballon. A huge cluster of about 100 balloons flew up into heavens to send a message of forgiveness.
Shortly after all guest had left a spring storm rolled in and hit the building next to us. The chimney pieces went flying around the neighborhood. Everybody was fine, just a roof damage, power surge damage in couple units, our Internet feed got fried.
Every body was quite shaken. Most of all Jason 😉 Sara was told at the daycare that the thunder was made by a man in the sky playing a drum. Jason is set on telling her how nature works. Before bed Jason is telling her that there is no man in the clouds while she shouts at him that she believes that there is a man in the sky… I just keep laughing at his determination. I knew he will loose, I guess I have to find some educational book or a video explaining lightning 🙂
Jay just told me I’m like a hoarder and I make piles everywhere… how mean of him 😉 I just can’t keep up with my flu and my kid at the same time. Only 3 weekend till the madness is done and maybe our house will return into a tidy state once for all ;))) yeah, keep dreaming Klara

I deserve a big pat on my shoulders this long weekend. We had so much fun going for a bike ride, having dinner with friends and getting into the spring projects around the house and the garden.
One main accomplishment was the sand box for Sara in our garden. I even made a little bench in it for her to sit on os to use it for her tea party and what have you. Right now I’m trying figure out how to attach a cover to keep the animals out of this lovely clean place. Old outdoor table cloth will serve just fine.
So well done Klara 😉

Easter long weekend
We kicked the weekend off by going to North Van to enjoy freezing cold beach. Sara asked if she can take her shoes off so she can feel the sand… the next sentence contained a plead to go on a cruise and vacation 😉
No cruises for us for a long time. Next year it’s the big Europe trip to visit relatives, but also to see a bit of the good old continent. In my single days I did a bike trip of the north west of France and it was just great. There were many families on bikes. It seems to be the European way, I guess since distances are so short to get from one place to another. Here you make it a road trip. I love spending my vacation on a bike seat, the challenge is to include Sara, but that will come soon.
Right now Sara is all about the beach and water, I guess we can do a short Mexico swimming pool, no culture trip 😉
Sun is here it’s whopping 9C outside, what a treat. It was frosty this morning, so I don’t feel that bad for not planting anything in the garden, just three more weekends and we can devote out time.
